Good to know: Our stainless steel has a natural, gentle flexibility. When closing your hoops, the right angle matters more than force. A little pressure is all you need.
First, check where the post sits
Every hoop has a movable post that clicks into a small clasp. Open the hoop and gently guide the post back towards the clasp without applying pressure. Where the tip lands will show you which method to use.
Method 1: Close with your fingertips
If the post sits just above the clasp, it is all about finding the right angle. This works with every size, although larger hoops are particularly easy to handle.
-
1
Hold the hoop with the clasp facing you.
Place it between your thumb and index finger so you can clearly see where the post needs to go. -
2
Place a fingertip on the post.
With your other hand, touch the post close to the tip. -
3
Tilt rather than push.
Apply gentle pressure and adjust the angle until the tip is perfectly aligned with the opening of the clasp. -
4
Listen for the click.
Slide the post into the clasp until you can feel and hear it click into place.
Three different hoops, one simple movement: a slight tilt, then a click.
Method 2: A little help from pliers
If the post sits below the clasp, or your hoop has a curved or unusual shape, your fingers may not always be able to reach the right angle. In that case, a small pair of jewellery pliers makes the adjustment much easier.
-
1
Grip the post close to the tip.
Hold the hoop steady and place the post gently between the jaws of the pliers. -
2
Lift it only very slightly.
Bring the post level with the clasp. Usually, a tiny adjustment is all that is needed. -
3
Close the hoop by hand.
Put the pliers aside and click the hoop closed with your fingertips, just as in Method 1.

Hoops with charms: remove the charm first
Some of our hoops come with movable charms and drops. Before making any adjustment, open the hoop and remove the charm. An empty hoop is easier to hold, easier to inspect and easier to adjust.
Once the post sits at the correct height, slide the charm back on and click the hoop closed.
“Little by little is the key. A few gentle adjustments work better than one strong push.”
Dos & Don’ts at a glance
✓ What to do
- Check where the post sits before you begin.
- Make small adjustments and test the clasp in between.
- Remove movable charms before adjusting the hoop.
- Use small jewellery pliers when the post sits below the clasp.
✕ Better to avoid
- Using too much force. Gentle pressure and the right angle are enough.
- Opening the hoop further than necessary.
- Repeatedly adjusting the post when the hoop already closes properly.
A click that holds
Stainless steel is what makes our hoops so durable: they keep their shape and shine, day after day. Once you know where the post should sit, closing your hoops only takes a few seconds.
