Sparkle never leaves in December. What changes is how it’s worn — and this winter the runways and the feed agree on the details.
1. Ice, Not Glitter
Pinterest + couture → The winter palette
Pinterest named icy Cool Blue a 2026 prediction, calling out icicle-like drop earrings and aquamarine (searches for “icy blue” up 50%). Aquamarine was a defining stone of the FW26 couture shows, and Ami, Valentino and Gucci sent out snow-white faux fur. In jewellery, that means clear, colourless stones.
Wear it
Clear stones in silver tone for full frost, or on gold if your wardrobe runs warm.
The Winter Light Palette
Six shades that decide how sparkle reads this season — and the stones that carry them.
Snow-white faux fur at Ami, Valentino, Gucci
→ Clear cubic zirconia, white crystal
Pinterest’s Cool Blue; couture aquamarine
→ Aquamarine tones, pale blue crystal
The ice-princess palette on TikTok
→ Silver-tone steel, white-gold plating
Candlelight on gold, dark velvet
→ Gold plating with clear stones
Head-to-toe red at Kors, Jacquemus, Ferragamo
→ Red and wine-coloured crystal
Black velvet, black leather, black tie
→ Dark crystal, black stones
2. After Dark
Runway → The party season
Party dressing is back: sequins at Carolina Herrera, shimmer at Julien Macdonald, tinsel-studded jackets at Schiaparelli, and sparkling minaudières instead of big bags at Dior and Gucci. Most people won’t buy a sequin dress for one party — a fully set earring or bracelet does the same job with a black knit.
Wear it
Keep the sparkle near the face — candlelight catches earrings and necklaces first.
3. Wild Prints
Runway → The new neutral
Harrods called animal print “well and truly the main event” of AW26 — leopard, cheetah, zebra and snake at Tom Ford, Bottega Veneta, Balmain, Carolina Herrera and Celine, plus leopard scarves at Prada. After several seasons it now works as a neutral, and the easiest way in is small: a scarf, a clip or a bangle.
Wear it
One print piece, then repeat one of its shades — brown, beige or gold. Gold jewellery is that shade at its brightest.
4. The Big Drop
Runway → Above the collar
Earrings got bigger: floral chandeliers, bombé shapes at Joseph and Suituationist, Givenchy’s candelabra pieces. It’s the most practical trend of winter — a big earring is the one piece that stays visible above a coat and scarf. Pinterest’s Glitchy Glam adds the twist: mismatched pairs.
Wear it
Hair up, no necklace. Or mismatch: a long drop on one side, a stud on the other.
5. Stacked in Diamonds
Celebrity + social → The It-girl ear
Kylie Jenner’s oversized yellow stones climbing up the ear set off a wave of recreations, and Grazia notes Margot Robbie, Hailey Bieber and Kylie have all swapped gold hoops for classic diamond studs. One bright stone per side, or several stacked from the lobe up — either way, diamonds at the ear.
Wear it
Biggest stone at the lobe, smaller as you climb, an ear cuff on top — no new piercings needed.
6. The Neckline Moment
Runway → Over the roll-neck
Necklines are back in focus: chokers at Nina Ricci, high sculptural collars at Chanel, bigger necklaces at Saint Laurent. The wearable version is the Y-necklace — close at the neck, then a line of stones dropping down the centre, right where a V-neck or open collar draws the eye.
Wear it
Over the knit, not under it. Wear it at its shortest so the drop falls to the breastbone.
7. Over the Glove
Runway + couture → Winter’s most photogenic move
Opera gloves were the accessory of AW26 — Michael Kors, Max Mara, Richard Quinn, Mugler, Zimmermann, Sportmax — and Balenciaga couture styled crystal cuffs over gloved arms. The bracelet over the glove is winter’s version of the wrist stack.
Wear it
One sparkling bangle over a leather glove — a rigid bangle stays put where a chain would slip.
8. Jewels in the Hair
Social + red carpet → The easiest party upgrade
Pinterest flagged crystal clip-ons and heirloom pins for 2026, and Zoë Kravitz wore a brooch in her updo at the Golden Globes. Jewelled French pins and crystal scrunchies are the lowest-commitment way into the party season — no new outfit, nothing to match.
Wear it
A sleek low bun finished with a rhinestone scrunchie, or two French pins in a twist.
Where to Start
Start with the ice — clear stones work with everything. Then build for the calendar: leopard for every day, diamonds at the ear, a big drop for the office party, a Y-necklace over the roll-neck, a bangle over the glove, a crystal scrunchie for the night that wasn’t planned.
